trystinn: (ducklings)
Husband and 2nd Husband bought me a new brooder yesterday, as we were expecting to get another 15 or so chicks today. Turns out the hatchery goofed up and only sent 4 Buff Orpingtons for me, which is certainly fine. At 16, this is already more than enough chicks, we're on the far side of gravy (pardon the pun).

I brought the new chickies home and realized that they'd likely do better, given the total amount of chicks, in the new brooder. So I popped them in the new brooder, then tucked the week old chicks in with them. The new Buff Orpington chicks are roughly the same size as the smallest of the 1st order chicks, so likely won't be an issue as far as size goes. Orpingtons are nice, big, fluffy chicks - they can certainly handle themselves in a crowd.

Referring back to the original order which was two each (survivor round), these are my best guess:

1 Silver Spangled Hamburgs - Light yellow/white, silver/black sides and back, bare feet.
1 Araucanas - Mustard yellow, black and white stripes on back, bare feet.
2 Patridge Rocks - Medium brown, whitish chest and dark brown/back head, bare feet.
1 Silver Laced Wyandottes - Black and yellow speckled, bare feet.
2 Light Brahmas - Silver Black back with yellow whitish chest, feathered feet.
2 Blue Cochins - Very large, black/gray backs, white undersides, heavily feathered feet.
2 Buff Cochins - Very large, yellow white, heavily feathered feet.
5* Buff Orpingtons - Very fluffy yellow, heavy body, bare feet.

* 4 additional Buff Orpingtons arrived today.
