Any given Saturday
Mar. 27th, 2010 10:30 amKevin is off to El Centro for a few weeks, or as we call it El Sweato. Therefore, we has the Boo! Four dogs isn't quite as nutty around here as it may sound, though check with me mid-April to see if I still agree with that sentiment!
Josh has a rare day off, so he's busy cleaning out his pickup, since I refuse to get in it in it's current condition. Dear Gods, what is it about people? It's your fricking car, not a trash heap, treat it with a little respect already. I paid good money for that thing. Grr.
We're finally getting back to working on the roofing - one panel for the new chicken pen and the panels to cover poor Freckle's pen in the West Wing of Bunhalla. We're only covering her pen for now since we're really not sure what we're going to end up doing with the other combined pen (two solos without a middle fence). It may be a chicken coop in the future, it may remain empty for awhile and it may end up as a solitary confinement for some ducks. Who knows around here?
Yesterday was the intake interview for graduate school with the Dean of Psychology. I was fortunate to take a pre-req class with him several years back and really enjoyed him. Perspective is a funny thing, I always feel like I have so much catching up to do since my Bachelors is in English, even though I've read most of the major Psychology texts and will continue to do so. He seemed to think I'm more on the ball than others coming into the project and liked the questions I asked - where do you see counseling licenses going in our state? what refrence books should every psych grad student have on their shelves and would he recommend we join the APA and AMFTA (yes, to both) as students. I was thrilled to be able to get him to talk, in counseling that's fairly huge after all, and wrote down copious notes. It felt more like a mentoring session - we ran an hour over just talking about where our industry is headed, how he felt I could help the students with their writing (yay!) and how as an older student I can help pull a few shyer ones out of their shells.
I finally managed to buy a decent book bag/computer bag. Not a cool geek bag of holding or similar, but a professional black leather bag with just a touch of trendiness. It has a lovely light fabric interior (so I can find things) and a padded interior slot for a portable computer. I can fit either my laptop or netbook in it, frankly both if I really wanted to so I'm getting psyched (pardon the pun) about getting started!
