Spent most of the day over at Deb's re-organizing roughly half the house. I started in her bedroom, moving the bed to the corner, adding and moving furniture then re-organizing everything. We even created play areas for Babs, her rabbit. She'd asked for a small shrine, I made sure to give her a lovely one with plenty of storage beneath for candles, incense and totems. While she organized her papers, I moved on to her bathroom, which really only entailed organizing the cabinets, though I did add an aromatherapy shelf which she adored. The porch only took a half hour, sweeping and moving furniture so it was out of the rain and wind. One of the chairs needed to be thrown out, there's an opportunity there to upgrade to nicer furniture.

It was the garage that killed me. Several dozen boxes of unpacked stuff, which needed to be moved out of the way to create meaningful work spaces. I managed to put together a small motorcycle maintenance area and organize his sea bags, but mostly we moved furniture to safer locations and piled the boxes back out of the way so one can move around the garage without bumping into things. I also re-organized their deep freezer and soda refrigerator, mostly because I wanted to get rid of the "pile o' pop" that was in the way. Going to give myself a few days off before returning to set up the workshop for Jim. When I left tonight there were two large piles of recycling and one of garbage. Not too bad for a day's work.

People slay me. The reason most of my friends don't seem to have any room is they haven't taken advantage of the space they have. Culling back on the detritus of modern life is a must, of course, but re-organizing a room to a tidy and inviting room will create living and meaningful space once priorities are set. Its easier for me, an outsider, to re-organize everything - I know exactly how to start and what I want done. The rest is just elbow grease.

Now, off to watch Dexter.

Oh I need to do that some more.
It is rather satisfying, yes?

You know, there's probably a lucrative career hiding in that last paragraph.

Some people, like me, are spatially retarded. That's why people like you are such a blessing. :)

I am the opposite, I get overwhelmed when there is too much clutter and have no idea of where to start. Once I start moving something it gets better, but it always difficult for me to make that first "must move this" step.
