Shifting to hubby's new schedule is a drag...From 2nd shift to day shift...*yawn*
Reading a lot about body language for my psych classes and so was delighted when someone was asking about how to tell when folks are lying. As I cannot scan sections of my texts books, here's a few online sources that looked pretty good.

All bets are off for psychopaths and others with delusional syndromes...the fine line rests where they understand the falsehood (i.e. can they tell the difference between their delusions and the truth?)
Off to make more coffee and walk the dogs.

sociopaths...

I get "blank" readings on them. I just don't get anything from them at at all, which is now a warning sign for me.
Then again, they are one of the classes of people who can actually beat a lie detector test.

Re: sociopaths...
Date: 2005-07-19 03:50 pm (UTC)I grew up with an alcoholic, so the ability to tell a good lie was somewhat mandatory in my house.
I completely agree with your observations. I've met a few folks with massive addictions (be they chemical or behavioral) that also come out as blanks. I'm still somewhat prone to being immediately pulled in by the psychopaths and sociopaths...the dynamism still catches, but I'm getting better at seeing through it faster.
I'm also noticing I can tell a fraud MUCH quicker than I used to. There's that feeling you describe as warm fuzzies that's absent in them. I would think that most folks take that edgy feeling and extrapolate that it somehow relates to the person having extrordinary power. Which is true on one level (they have power, but its power to dominate) and completely false on the other, as its unnatural, unhealthy and manipulative power.
I'm not much of a visualizer, either. Its something I'd really like to improve, though. Best I can do is take my feelings, insights, etc. and form a visual for others via words, simple drawings, etc.
