The joy and trials of keeping rabbits
Dec. 26th, 2007 03:51 pmMuch to their annoyance, I trimmed the English Angoras fur this afternoon. All three of them suffered through it bravely with nary a nip, scratch or irritated urination. Now I've finished brushing one of the babies, Holly and still awed that two spotted Holland Lops managed to produce two angoras! I'm brushing Mistletoe while I write this, who is quickly dozing off on my shoulder where she likes to perch.
"Adoption updates:
Sadly, the family who wanted the two baby spotties canceled the adoption on Christmas Eve, so I'll have to ramp up efforts to get them adopted. Because of their fur, they are high maintenance rabbits to own. Deb still wants Cadbury, so at least one bunny has a new home. She'll take possession this weekend and see if Babs will accept another rabbit. We're still planning on keeping Kodiak, but if someone falls in love with him and can give him more attention than we can I'll gladly let him go.
Mufasa, our lionhead, had a 24 hour trial that lasted three days. I was really hoping it would work out for him, it may well work out in the future after they finish their home renovation projects. M was absolutely in love with Mufasa, even gave him a bath. Mufasa is part of a joined pair with Flopsy and she realizes Flopsy is part of the deal.
Even though it would significantly lighten the load, I won't be adopting the three mini-rexes to C. C, among other things, is a complete flake. I was completely aghast as to how she keeps her dwarves (outdoors in wire-mesh bottom cages, no room to run or play and completely alone) and not impressed with the condition of her dogs (grossly overweight and neglected emotionally). I had Josh meet her just to make sure my instincts were on target, as he's not as judgmental as I can be and even he couldn't stand her. No, I don't need to make life long friends with adopters but I would like to have some faith and trust the rabbits are going to good people."

Date: 2007-12-27 06:38 am (UTC)Hon, I don't know if I'm going to make it this weekend. I'm not feeling very well, and my house looks like a nuclear warhead hit it.
I was wondering if maybe we could postpone a few weeks. I have a meeting in Kirkland on Monday the 21st, and I thought maybe I could spend that weekend with you, because I have to go to Kirkland in the a.m., anyway. Also, maybe Kiya could make it that weekend, too.
Let me know if it's doable. I do miss you, and want to see the buns.
