Many years ago I discovered that the irritation a friend endures in being turned down when asking to borrow a book is exponentially minor compared to my own heartburn, hypertension, and general irritability when realizing a beloved book will never come home.

Its partially my own fault, I used to keep lists of books my friends borrow but what with all the Advanced Copies at work it became a nightmare to keep track of.
