Our newest rescue has been an absolute joy, even as she's lost a little bit of her housetraining. Shadow comes when you call her name, presents herself for pettins, is incredibly sweet and very friendly when meeting strangers. We've been on the receiving end of a few nuzzles, but she's still getting to know us so no bunkisses yet. Darn. So far her favorite thing is zooming around the living room in the evening, she'll be mid-zoom and stop to look around a bit on her hind legs then continuing zooming along. Its always surprising to me how little interest Gracie, Fudge and Flash can show in a new rabbit. Polite curiosity, but not enough to keep them from their regular habits like napping, begging and ball chasing. Speaking of ball chasing, Gracie ran in front of Shadow chasing a ball and Shadow thumped her displeasure, Gracie slumped away embarrassed. Oh yes, I think Shadow is doing quite well here.

One of these days, when I'm ready to have a house rabbit, I swear I'm coming to your house for training. I'll even do dishes! Or whatever!

Sounds like fun, wear clothes you can paint in - we're in a crazy renovation mode here.

I am my own drop cloth.

It'll probably be a few years down the road, since I currently own a very accomplished predator. (sigh)

You'd think between the Basset or the Border Collie someone would be interested in hunting rabbits, but honestly, they just don't.

Now, yes, the border likes to herd them. But she stops when they stomp their feet at her.

Ah. My dog (affectionately known as the Dingo), wants to tear through the wall to get outside if she sees a bunny in the yard. And, more than once, I've had to compassionately dispatch a bunny who wasn't quite so good at holding up its end of the predator-prey relationship. The Dingo is much better at killing these days, and I'd hate to think what would happen to a poor bunny in the house.

Until the right day comes, I'll watch your journal and lust after a bunneh of my very own.
