Picture first, rambling below.

"Some of Bandit's misery has been alleviated by watching her and realizing she just won't drink from a bottle. I've replaced her bottle with a water crock, which is a hell of a lot more work from me as rabbits are notoriously messy with their water bowls. However, it this keeps her hydrated, eating and interested in the rest of the world it will be well worth the work.
Last night, I opened up Shadow's pen and opened the cage door for Bandit. Gracie, Flash and I stretched out in the foyer for our own version of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Children's Hour". Bandit came out for a few moments, seemed very confused by Shadow's request for grooming then jumped back in her cage, overwhelmed by the experience but still curious. She's now eating treats from my hand, this is such an incredibly huge trust experience for her. When I walk over to the pen to give Shadow a nose rub, Bandit stands on her back legs and sniffs the air curiously. Its a complete 180 from how she was two days previous.
Shadow, of course, is an absolute treasure. She is unflappable, no matter what the household throws at her. She never required a smoothing in period to the household, never seemed concerned by Flash, Gracie or Fudgie and was affectionate with me from day one. Shadow, it would seem, is a natural. If she can work this bun luv magic on helping us tame rabbits for adoption, she'll be a permanent resident of the Tryst Inn. Even Gracie, who is by breed and temperament wary, has shown a gentleness and willingness to groom Shadow."

Date: 2008-04-09 09:44 pm (UTC)I'm going to add a bottle to her cage, in hopes she'll sort it out eventually. Until then, its the dreaded crock.

Date: 2008-04-10 01:15 am (UTC)As you see by his feet in the pic, he just lays out near them and waits for them to come round. At the moment, he's out baying at the cows through the fence and supervising the Bunhalla rabbits. Granted, if one is racing about the house, Flash gets interested. He's a dog, obviously. Mostly he prefers to play with other dogs and with his little bits and pieces of toys he's collected.
He's just bizarre.
