Stood up this afternoon to attend to the buzzer telling me the sourdough was most likely done and my knee hyperextended. Shit. I stood for a few moments on the other leg, then tried gingerly to stand on my bad leg when it buckled at the knee. Fabulous.

Two Alleve, hot soaking bath and elevation later it still hurts. Not "go to ER" hurt, "cursing the stupidity of shitty engineering" kind of hurt. Swelling and aching on the inside of the knee and front, though it held my weight the rest of the evening just fine. Obviously, I took it seriously easy as I slowly fed the bunnies and dogs this evening.

While I appreciate that I've got bursitis in that knee, I really don't think it should be hyperextending and buckling a few times a week with that diagnosis.

Looks like another visit to the Doctor for me.

A little late with this advice, but...when you damage a joint, for the first 24 hours it should be cold only...no heat.

Heat encourages the flow of fluids into the already swelling joint, which will make it worse.

Cold packs will reduce swelling and give the joint timeto heal the strained tissue, once healing starts ...then you use heat to help relieve the swelling.
