I remember him as mayor of Cleveland. Not a pretty picture. The question is, do we really want the results of a successful impeachment? I'd love to have the Shrub and Igor behind bars, but do we want to deal with Pelosi in the White House?

Pelosi is from Baltimore and is thus, so self-centered that she thinks she is a goddess. I doubt it would do more than lightly impact the surface. Surely would not leave a mark.

I think that the real problem is that too many candy-asses in the US think that because we can't get the whole enchilada, that we should not try. "We can't get the historic removal from office, which has never happened, so we just shouldn't bother." Panty waists; all of them.

Besides, this has WAY more traction than Clinton's perjury.

Oh gods. I lived an hour outside of Cleveland when Dennis was screwing everything up. He just about leveled the place before his term was up.

Pelosi could only become president if they manage to get Cheney as well. Getting Shrub would be hard enough, but you'd have to see a LOT of people defect the party line. Might happen, but the jingoism is really thick out there these days, despite the obvious betrayals of trust.

Like Trista says, we'd be stuck with Nancy for maybe 6 months. However, she is just enough of a wacker to really make a mess with her head swelling because she beat Hillary out for first woman in the job. *snork*

I mean come on folks, we have an administration, that has FAILED to uphold the constitution, they have gotten us into not one but two wars, and quickly trying for a third.
He is currently threatening to not pay the troops if he doesnt get his way, this of course isnt even talking about the money that has gone out in contracts and bonuses to Halibirton, and Blackwater, and not our troops, ya know for things like kevlar vests and bullets and water, oh and gasoline.
Gas prices are higher that any one has ever seen as is food prices.
So Six months of Pelosi?
Not a bad thing.
Oh yeah In Germany Cheney is considered a war crimminal, I figure if the Land Of Hitler can do the math so can Americans.

Mass Email, All of them....Was Listening to Thom Hartman this morning, and he said if you were to call, write and show up at a company regularly it would be considered harrasment, when we do this to the goverment its democracy in action. :)

I am pleased to announce to you that the House Judiciary Committee has met my public call for Scott McClellan's immediate testimony with action:

Today, Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers officially invited Mr. McClellan to testify under oath on Friday, June 20th at 10AM.

After all of our hard work pushing for impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney – the McClellan hearing provides our cause with a legitimate opportunity to showcase the crimes and violations of this Administration for the American people, the mainstream media, reluctant members of the Democratic party, and sensible Republicans. This hearing provides us our first genuine opportunity to enter the public consciousness and change the dynamics that have prevented true accountability for Bush and Cheney.

Mr. McClellan was a major figure in the Valerie Plame/CIA scandal, as well as a leading propagandist for the Bush White House's deliberate attempts to hide the true costs of this war from the American public. As such, Mr. McClellan will testify under oath (and be subject to perjury charges should he lie) and be asked about the following matters:
1. What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney , and key administration officials take in the effort to reveal the identity of covert CIA agent Valeria Plame Wilson – thus destroying her network and putting lives in jeopardy?
2. What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and key administration officials take regarding the firing of U.S. Attorneys or political reasons?
3. What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, key administration officials take in conspiring to blatantly break U.S. and International laws prohibiting the use of torture?
I call on Mr. McClellen to immediately accept this invitation and testify under oath as he previously agreed to while being interviewed on national television.

During the hearing I will have roughly five short minutes to question Mr. McClellan and undercover the illegalities committed by this Administration – which is why it is critically important that every representative on the Judiciary Committee hears your voice. Please let them know that you demand answers to these questions.

Nor should it stop there: Karl Rove has thumbed his nose to the Judiciary Committee's subpoena – joining Harriet Miers, Joshua Bolten and Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff David Addington as the only Administration officials in history to claim Congress has no power to even bring them before a committee to be questioned.

I have called for Karl Rove to be held in inherent contempt and for the other renegade officials to appear as required by their subpoenas, or be forced to do so by the House Sergeant of Arms.

What the Judiciary's request of McClellan proves is that if we stay vigilant – if we call loudly and repeatedly for accountability - that we become very difficult to ignore.

It's still a futile gesture: even if it gets through the House, which I seriously doubt that it will, there are NOT going to be 67 votes to convict in the Senate.

Trying to impeach a president who has seven months left in his term is Kucinich playing to his supporters before the election this fall, as opposed to Kucinich acting in the best interests of the nation. I dislike that sort of grandstanding when there are so many more important things that the Congress needs to be doing.

And impeaching the Shrub would leave Dick Cheney as President for the remainder of the term. Do you REALLY think that making him Commander-in-Chief is a good idea?

I adore Dennis, and am proud to be one of his constituents.

That said, Kea's critique of his tenure as mayor is probably well taken. It's worth realizing he was something like 30 at the time, and his ideology overran practicality. (PS Kea -- Frank Jackson is doing worse, and we're more bankrupt than Dennis ever dreamed of, but nobody dares criticize the Af-Am mayor.)

He's a good guy. I'm glad you noticed his work. :D

Political Stunt

This is a political stunt, and a bit of a cheap one at that.

He didn't actually introduce a bill of impeachment. He read a speech into the Congressional record, which has zero legislative meaning but is a ploy for media attention.

If he was serious about impeachment, he'd introduce it as a bill and try to find sponsors that agree with him. But that would require political will (instead of media attention-mongering), and it's clear he's not willing to try and actually introduce such a bill; he'd rather just grab publicity for himself rather than try and effect any actual change.

Oh and the reason for pelosi Not pushing for impeachment is not enough Ds in the house, so it would be a meaningless "Political Stunt".

The media hasn't picked it up because it's not newsworthy. It's a meaningless act by a now obscure politician who's just looking for free publicity.

If he actually introduced a bill of impeachment, it would make news.

But, as it stands, just reading it into the record is not newsworthy because it has no political consequences.

What Obama/Clinton/McCain are doing is far more newsworthy.
