...apart from the fact that she's hardly attested at all in Welsh literature, and that most of what has been said and believed about her in common pagan writings these days is utterly invented and has no basis in anything whatsoever...

But yes, I know, this is some dumb Internet quiz, made by someone who--furthermore--didn't even spell the character's name correctly.

Got a decent, fairly easy resource to recommend?

I'm wondering if any of the collection of books left after the great Alfrecht cull would be decent sources or if there's a site.

The most authoritative would be Rachel Bromwich's dictionary to Trioedd Ynys Prydein, which is a very expensive book...but I have it, so I could copy that bit for you, if you like.

The only story she's really in is Hanes Taliesin, and there is an edition of that by Patrick Ford (which I don't have)...

As far as websites go: most of the stuff out there is exaggerated, overblown stuff that has no relationship to any of the actual sources, alas.

I've been afraid of deity information from pagan websites for years. CM is represented fairly well but academia doesn't seem to translate to the sparkly on black background crowd. What's the old line - deduct 10 IQ points for every spinning pentagram and when you reach zero, turn the pc off.

I've got the Jones' translation of the Mabinogion and the Thomas Kinsella "Tain" - good places to start?

Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If it is information on Ceridwen, then neither of those has it. However, if it is just basic familiarity with the major mythic tales of Wales and Ireland, then that's perfectly fine. Kinsella is not entirely accurate in some bits (he changes certain things to sound, for lack of a better term, "less gay"); and the Welsh still prefer the Jones bros. translation of the Mabinogi because it is closest to the Welsh idiom. (Though Patrick Ford's translation is MUCH more entertaining!)
