Last night while washing dishes, I looked up and saw a huge cottontail sitting in the front border. Likely a buck, he was fluffed up a bit against the evening chill and as still as a stone. When pointing him out to Josh, it took him quite awhile to find him he was so well camouflaged by his size and color.

I've been counting robins and listening to the frog song for a few weeks now, waiting for that last sign that winter has released her bonds. For us, where we live, it's the dozens of cottontails that make our neighborhood home. Until I see that population jump, it's just not quite Spring yet. One absurdly large buck does not a season make, yet I am heartened.

And how wonderfully appropriate, given Ostara is this weekend.

Yes, but what does the bunny omen MEAN? Mwa-ha-ha!

Since it's a big one, it predicts a very cool Spring. :)

I see bunnies around here sometimes. They were out every evening last August when I first moved here. We have some kind of bulb flower that is giving the funky cold then warm then cold again weather the finger and starting to bud in our front yard. Another sure sign that spring is on the way is that my Leopard Gecko is more alert these days.

The daffodils are sending up shoots and leaves, no signs of buds as yet.

Glad to hear the gecko is feeling the energy of Spring. My dogs certainly aren't!

Send a bit of that Spring this way - after a warming trend and most of last week in the high 60s - low 70s... tonight we've got freeze warnings again.

I hate cold, and I can't wait for Spring in the mountains...

Preach it, sistah! I'm so tired of getting up to start a fire in the woodstove, then settling in on the couch with an afghan and cup of coffee waiting for the house to warm up enough to start getting things done.

The bunnies sure do disapprove of a chilly sun. That said, Moofie has almost completely shed his winter coat.

It's spring here, my son is currently standing at the back window talking to the squirrels and birds that are taunting him by being outside. It's like having a cat again.

Spring is coming here as well, my mom's apple tree has beautiful blossoms on it already, I just worry with the ups and downs here how long they will last. :(

I also wish I could celebrate Ostara (well all the holidays) and experience the festivities pagan-style.

We used to have wild bunnies. Then one winter they ate my holly bushes. No more bunnies.
