Hubby is home!

With what had to be the craziest, most dangerous ride down I-5 I've ever experienced, we somehow managed to get Josh to the North End Discussion Group without injury or damage. You know its a bad day on the highway, when you're the first person out of your car, running in the rain to check on the pickup that did four 360s across four lanes of highway, sliding backwards up onto the K-bars (Jersey barriers for Northeast folks) before the crank case of the rear axel got hung up on the bars, so both back wheels were spinning in the air. I cannot fathom how in busy Saturday afternoon traffic, they somehow managed (without being in control of the steering whatsoever, especially once they were in reverse shooting across the highway) to miss four lanes worth of traffic!

Thanks to two years of Army ROTC Field Medic training, I have the delusion I would have been of some use to the two young men. Luckily, I had brought my HPs with me and she was able to call 911 and get help (while I ran to the pickup), though the young men were fine, just scared and in shock.

But onto more positive things-
The ritual prepared for our group by hubby and Anna was beautiful, sweet and very simple. A thing of beauty those simple rituals!

G made it through hail, thunder, lightning and storm - and enjoyed herself! Everyone adored her and we're looking forward to seeing G again at future meetings!

Next meeting is a Murder Mystery Samhain costume party! Weeeeee~!

Not only did our HPs have Rosemary for us all, she gave me a few weeks' supply of nettle, so hopefully I can find my Herbal source on the island and replenish my own stores! Susan brought me more jars, (happy dance - JARS!) and we're looking ahead at additional herb planting for the coming year.

Hubby's homemade blended oil is not only a great protection oil, it makes a fabulous chicken marinade!

On a more serious note - with the crazy drive to the airport, my HPs and I were able to talk about the progress I'm making (ahead of schedule), my thoughts on the training, etc. I'm a tad behind on one aspect, which I will catch up with by the end of October. Otherwise, things are looking grand!

You would have been. Even untrained or undertrained first aid is critical to helping in serious injury situations. Some pressure on a bleeding wound can save someone's life. Hell, in the worst case, even letting someone know that they are not dying alone would be considered a kindness by most.

Thank you! I've held a few hands in my day, as I always stop (more so if no one else has!). That study that came out about folks being unwilling to help others if there's no perceivable benefit to them made me angry enough to insist on stopping.

Its probably time I head over to the Red Cross to take a refresher First Aid/CPR course. Luckily, as rural as we are, there is one attached to our military base here.
