The Command Children's Christmas Party

To no one's surprise, I received an email today inviting us to bring our children to the command's Children's Christmas Party. I immediately sent a polite email asking when the Children's Hannukah and Yules parties will be held.

*sigh*

Ironically, on Veteran's Day, one more example of how the non-Christian service members and their families are ignored.

Update: Still no response, for those wondering. I've spoke to Josh who is going to speak with the Chaplain.

when i was part of an.. interesting.... xtian group which didnt celebrate Xmas, i ran into this a lot....
not all Christians celebrate it EITHER.

i know that calling it a "winter party" or a "holiday party" sounds.. sort of..... tacky? uh.. whatever..its still at least inclusive.

On the other hand, it would be funny as hell if you showed up with the basset children -- dressed in Nativity costumes, of course!

Flash and Doodle as Wise Men? :)

Or Mary and Joseph...

This. Really, sometimes a subtle mockery is the best way to make the point.

I'm sorry. Maybe they should do it as more of a holiday party instead of a Christmas part. Make it non denominational so everyone is included.

Typically the hope is that there's a Winter Holiday party - keeps everyone happy and inclusive.

I find it amusing because you have furkids and no kid-kids. Unless you guys got some goats. :3

Did they ever reply back?

I think you should dress up an entire nativity of fur-babies and go. ;) Take the video camera too!

I think Flash, Doodle and Libby would make great Wise Men. Gracie would be the angel and I'll take Betty, the Cranky Chicken, and swaddle her up as Baby Jesus.

And a bunny as a shepherd/lamb or the disapproving inn-keeper who has no room? :p

[identity profile] tryst-inn.livejournal.com 2009-11-12 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking rabbits for Joseph and Mary?

[identity profile] lore-of-lore.livejournal.com 2009-11-12 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
That too! Although one of the angoras would make a very cute lamb :D

Chicken diapers so soon?

Folks at my new gig are throwing vitriol at the concept of having a 'holiday party' feeling like the new mgmt has taken the Christ out of Xmas and it's all so horrible. Now what that has to do with their scheduled ornament exchange or cookie exchange, I have NO freaking idea ... but I'm picking my battles and keeping my mouth shut on that one. Nope, in a land where it's all Catholic, I just need to sit back and shut up. Equal rights and equal respect? Maybe not in my lifetime.
