Rincewind's little black duckling is doing marvelously, so much so that I worried that she'd tumble down the compost pile. Where'd she be food for crows, eagles and maybe even a Libby Kitty.

I made the executive decision to move Mamma Rincewind, her duckling and the remaining eggs into the shed pen. Mamma was putting up a fuss, so I wired the heat lamp above the nest just in case. I've dipped the ducklings bill in water, placed a very small waterer in the bin with the nest and placed some food outside the nest for her. Right now, I'm calling her Prima, for She is First. We have another one peeping her way through, hopefully Segunda will introduce herself by this evening.
Update: We just found Nera, our Rouen duck, brooding on a nest of 9 eggs. Whee! Thankfully, our new friend Joe has asked for any Rouen ducklings we can produce, so at least I know where those are going!
