As some of you know, I have divided each room in the house among the days of the week for cleaning purposes. Today, I'm supposed to be tackling the Hallway and Foyer, which I will. Unfortunately, there's been an ongoing disaster on the dining room table that I could not stand another moment much less another day.

So this morning I re-organized the household desk and all the paperwork, finding not only several very important things to have handy (Josh's car accident, my VA paperwork) but also Josh's favorite pair of glasses. *eye roll* Can you tell we don't use the dining room very much? Knew you could.

I also relocated the kitchen radio, which had been perched precariously over several too many liquor bottles, to the top of the household desk. Hopefully this will keep myself and others from leaving junk up there. More and more my decorating motifs incorporate this idea - blockage! This creates yet another issue around here, no surfaces available. I'm willing to allow for that trade off right now if it keeps the house tidier-looking.

I've also yanked off the big living room sofa cover and am washing them on hot, hoping they will shrink a bit. (Update: It worked pretty well, probably needs one more hot wash to really tighten it up nicely) They are way too large for the sofa (I meant to get the elastic form-fitting ones and somehow, didn't) and I'm considering replacing them with the correct ones and putting these up on Freecycle. Especially, since my in-laws are coming for a visit in December.

Speaking of which, does anyone local have a furniture steamer they would trust me to borrow for a bit? I really need to steam clean the sofas and the budget doesn't really allow for a service or rental (three weekend paychecks = yuck).
