The snow, so picturesque and pastoral this morning, failed to stick around past noon. Everything is muddy or flooded at present. Annual bookstore inventory went well, we even managed to re-arrange the "attic" (a loft in the back) and correctly label all of the holiday decorations. The store has been completely dusted, vacuumed and re-dressed for Valentines Day. At one point, one of the ladies came up behind me and asked what the theme was in the window I was decorating. I responded, likely with a bit of tart, "Winter Love" which got everyone giggling. Its a ridiculous concept, but then, we've got a ridiculous collection of things in the window: a white feathered boa, a white owl (a'la our old Harry Potter display, all on a red felt background. I have half a mind to bring in a box of personal items to fill out that silly window tomorrow.

The new bantam chickens are doing quite well, though we are having trouble with one of them who has an attitude issue. I popped her up in the bantam barn this evening and for my troubles, she pecked me. *eye roll* I gave her a very satisfying peck back with my index finger before flicking her in the tush as a warning. She ran off squealing. With any luck, we'll only have to do this a few more times before she figures out I'm at the top of the pecking order. She's one of the chickens I intend to sell and frankly, she's doing everything NOT to win me over with this sort of nuttiness.

Napoleon is beyond thrilled. He spent half the day crowing and dancing for the new gals. They are a bit too freaked out by the move to fully appreciate the display. Once they calm down and settle in, I'm sure our crazed Sizzle cockerel will gain their respect. We've added a row of nesting boxes for them, but at present only tiny Pepper is laying. And boy is she laying! Nearly every single day this week, tiny little fairy eggs, not much bigger than a quarter really. Picy goodness to come.

Soon it will be Napoleon Bone-them-all.

Are Pepper's eggs edible?

I'll make sure to let Josh know of the existence of THAT pun. :)

Pepper's eggs are edible, likely fertile, though I've not witnessed anything. About the size of the first digit of a man's thumb. Teensie-weensie barely begins to describe them.

So the eggs are about the size of the Cadbury chocolate eggs that have the hard shell?

I'm imagining the dearest little Easter basket, and one of your bunnies doing deliveries.
