A little then and now

"There's a lot of growing going on out there in the coops. The chicks are growing like crazy, even the tiny Bantams are doing marvelously.
Salt's chicks then:
Now:
Ruth!
Wendy's chicks then:
Now:

Onyx's chicks then:
Now:
Speaking of which, Onyx has rejoined the yard and is trying to convince Big Blue that another round of babies would be lovely right about now. In chicken love, the ladies signal their readiness by squatting in front of the male. He'll either take them up on their offer or not. However, if he attempts to mount up without that squat, he's likely to get the shit knocked out of him by some very angry hens, gang-style. Mischief 1 & 2 have not yet learned this lesson and we're checking them nightly for injuries. I may have to separate those two idiots soon for their own protection - they can live in one of the breeder hutches, either singly or together.
Once Salt and Wendy's chicks are old enough, we can make decisions about who will be bred by whom. Plan A goes something like this:
1: Silkie pullets in the Bantie barn to breed with the Frizzle Silkie cockerels in there.
2: Bantam Smooth Cochin pullets in a breeding hutch with Mischief 1, possibly a few in the Bantie barn.
3: Bantam Frizzle pullets in a breeding hutch with Mischief 2.
Cockerels will be put up for sale/trade, of course."
