Today (in a nutshell)

Rachel, our farmhand, came by to do the regular farm chores and yard work. I'm thrilled by both, frankly. The yard was a complete mess what with the fir cones, branches, etc. down all over the place! She tried to do some weed whacking but was stung by a wasp and had to head home, so I sent hubby out to find and destroy the nest. Which hopefully, he's managed to do. (Update: No) Ugh. So the weed whacking is half done and poor Rachel managed to back up over the glow-in-the dark turtles (not a loss, honestly) that marked the side of our driveway.

Folks may recall that the turtles are part of Josh and my epic battle to out-tacky each other. On that note, I *must* post a pic of the new decorative cocks he bought me. Yes, decorative cocks. For my decorative cock collection. :D

I'm scouring the DIY sites via Pinterest to find cheap ideas for lights to line our driveway with something fun and easily replaced, since so many of our friends seem to run over things in our driveway. You know who you are. Yes, you do!

Lisa came by to drop off empty soda bottles so I can make some mosquito traps tonight and help out with the chickens. She and her baby ended up staying for dinner, which thankfully hubby was able to enjoy some of as his belly is almost back to normal (on meds).

From the feathered corner, Salt (our speckled Cochin) is still desperate to have more chicks and Big Blue still seems remarkably uninterested in her. I'll be tucking her in with Napoleon, our Frizzled rooster. Frizzled Cochins sound like fun.

Also, on that note, I managed to sell 126 eggs today (7 packs of 18s)! And I still have more eggs! Gah! Local folks, come by and buy eggs, you know you need some. I have a new trick to try out for boiling fresh eggs to remove the shells neatly and I will be trying that out tonight and reporting back!

Tomorrow is the Rheumatologist appointment, I have the lab tests from the NHOH (FOOKING FINALLY) after an epic battle. I'm nearly out of Vicodin from the original ER visit, so I'm most grateful! My body reacts so oddly to narcotics, with Vicodin - it either knocks me out, covers the pain or doesn't seem to help at all. I can't figure it out, honestly. I need more commitment and stability from my painkiller of choice.

I've had good success baking my "hard-boiled" eggs - I know that I'm not dealing wit =h ones that are quite as fresh as yours, but it might be worth looking into

I've baked them several times, but its not quite enough when they are only a week from being laid. :D I'm going to try the trick offered by a few other farmers - Add baking soda to the water when hard boiling eggs and the shell will come right off ~~ add 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the water it will make the egg shell easier to peel.

We didn't get to try it last night, but I'm going to try it today. :D

I just had 5 vials of blood drawn for thyroid tests and had to request the PTH test, which they added. We'll see what, if anything, shows up when I see the endo next week.

I've noticed my writing skills deteriorate quickly on Vicodin. I'll fix it. Also the stiffer my hands get, the more typos I make (not related in this instance, but I'm noticing it)!

Today's appointment should be good, I'm very impatient to get there. Ugh. Why can't we just get to a damn point where doctors email you test results and tell you what the hell is wrong with you, then at your appointment they give you the treatment plan options? My favorite doctors have been those who call you with test results, then tell you we'll discuss what they mean at the next appointment. This silent waiting SUCKS.

I've been wondering why the new automated system the dr's are using doesn't include test results. That would seem to be an obvious addition, no?

I'm also waiting to hear an actual report about the neck ultrasound. Getting a text from a friend saying that it looked okay really doesn't tell me much. I'm hoping for something a bit more definitive during my appt next week. While I'm there, I need to discuss the estradiol/progesterone regime I'm on. The progesterone and I are *not* having a good relationship.

Don't let your dr out of that room until you have options, answers, and a plan. Block the door if you have to.

Nah, you just know I'd rather NOT have mistakes on my blog and know I'd prefer my friends point them out to me. So you are HELPFUL. *hugs*

In 2002, my GP told me I had Lupus but we had to have a Rheumy verify it for the insurance. The Rheumy took one look at me (I was a lot thinner then) declared I had sleep apnea and refused to examine me. Literally, he declared it from the fucking doorway. Well, its 2012, I'm heavier and in May I had yet another sleep clinic test and I *still* don't have sleep apnea. Apparently, Dr. Solomon (the first Rheumy) is known for that sort of asshattery, according to my new Rheumy. Misogynistic bastard seems to judge curvy women and blow us off.

This new guy is very polite, gentle, quiet and determined to figure this out. Hopefully, he will. *sigh* I've done very well with Asian doctors in the last few years. And, of course, my favorite nurse at NHOH is Asian, too. :D

I hope your test results come in and are helpful to you. I'm infamous for non-declarative tests. They are all a "bit off" but don't seem to pinpoint anything, generally.

Let me know if the baking soda trick works. I hate losing half an egg because it's stuck to the shell.

A dr who listens is like finding buried treasure. That first one deserves to have been reported. Diagnosed from the doorway? Ye gods.

I want to know who these mythical "norm" people are. Like you, my test results usually show nothing definitive. "Hi. My name is Ruth. Can we please discuss symptoms rather than numbers on a sheet of paper?"

The oddity of the whole "you have sleep apnea" crap is, I'm not a huge person. There are much larger people who seem to be able to get diagnosed rheumatically without having to go into the bullshit about their weight. Or I would presume so. *waving hands in the air madly*

I'm going to start boiling water in a minute. :D

I feel guilty now because they actually do that in my health system, with the emailing results and discussing at the next meeting. You have to sign up for it and jump through a few hoops, but it's so much faster.
