There's all these little pc chores that you tend to let go until its sort of crazily overdue. First off, was dumping the AOHell crap off my system. I think I've found all those f*cking AOL files, but its hard to say - damn things are like a cootie invasion. Once I started messing around with the program files and add/remove programs menus, I just sort of surrendered the day to pc maintenance. I won't bore anyone with details - but with multiple hard drives you get optimization issues, storage differentials, defragging, etc. and the day goes by pretty quick.

I managed to get our old wireless network router up and running again so hubby and I can share the broadband. Which was a lovely surprise when he got home tonight - we haven't been able to share an internet connection since before we bought the house, so he geeked out in the livingroom for a few hours before heading off to bed early. We did, however, manage to laugh ourselves silly by YIM'ing to each other between my office and the livingroom - a scant three feet away. Boy, are we sure easy to amuse.

Now, onto more fun with widgets...

Muwahahahahaaaaaa~

My son and I will often IM each other, and we share a common wall between his bedroom and my office. It's easier than shouting around corners and down the hallway, and I can use caplock . . .

LMAO - between my office and the livingroom are two "decorator" windows between the two. When we first purchased the house, these windows were filled in with a sort of bubbly opaque insert. We quickly replaced them with clear glass. So now we make faces through the windows at each other.

Glad to hear we aren't the only sillies!

Yup, it's silliness . . . but nothing beats sending my sweetie torrid text messages while he's at work. ;)

sadly, don't bet on it ...

having dealt with the fiery pit of AO(hel)L before, and ripping the code to see where it installs daughter files and re-launch parameters ... don't bet that you got it all just going through the add/remove program run-through ... unless you know the exact time you installed it, and have the computer systematically delete every file added in that 10-minute time frame based on file-property value ... well, you prolly missed a few ...

last computer I had anything to do with that was getting rid of that particular pestilence, they basically just cloned their data files and sys/config files for their applications, then wiped the drives, and re-installed the applications, then imported the cloned data ...

works -- just my .o2

You know, I used to love Fix It Utilities for this kind of thing. Until it deleted all my dll files and threw my computer back into the dark ages. Haven't used that since!
