Busy, busy
Oct. 12th, 2007 07:33 pmWoke up this morning early to drive Tiger (Deb's mum) to the doctor's on the mainland. Lovely breakfast and drive, good company to boot. Spent the afternoon taking care of the foster rabbits: cleaning cages, clipping claws and re-arranging the garden shed. While cleaning out the cages, we put Noir and Nyx in side by side exercise pens to see how they did. After awhile, I pulled out the divider and supervised them for about an hour. Noir has been so aggressive and so cage protective, I'd been wondering if having a friend would help calm her down.
After Josh and I had dinner out with Tiger & Jim, I checked on them again and got a huge surprise. I leaned down to scratch Nyx's head and Noir ran up next to her, flattening out and presenting her nose for rubbins! Considering each time I've tried to pet her before she's growled and lunged at me, I'm thrilled. Hopefully those two will continue to bond and Noir will become a more peaceful bun. Pairs almost always do better and there's nothing quite so lonely as a solitary, isolated rabbit.
Josh and I ran an errand to Home Depot for supplies to two additional exercise pens. With any luck, we'll be able to finish them tomorrow so the buns can move outside. Not quite sure yet what we'll do for nesting boxes, but I'm sure we can come up with something.
