Its always one thing or another
Jun. 12th, 2005 01:23 pmSpoke with Mum this afternoon to thank her for the great box and remind her what was in it! Her birthday is tomorrow and she's having dinner with Dad, Emily and Emily's new boyfriend, Joshua, at her favorite bistro. Mum's still chuckling over the fact that both her daughters are involved with men named "Joshua" and both men are in the Navy. For a liberal intelligencia New England Jewess - I think she's taking it well. Particularly as Emy's Josh is - A DOCTOR! I can hear my mother's voice over the cell phone: "A Doctor, honey, he's a doctor!"
Mum and I had yet another discussion over the fact I haven't done a bloody thing to change my last name to my married name. I'm not crazy about it, but then, I wasn't impressed with my maiden name, either. I'm of the mindset nothing really sounds good with "Trista", anyhow.
So Mum gave me the guilt trip (just in time for Shavout!) about how this must make the hubby feel and how I need to get to DOL to change my last name to my married name, switch out the bank accounts (except the one in Switzerland - natch) and just commit to my married name. She's liberal enough to understand keeping my maiden name, but old fashioned enough to wonder why half my ID is in my maiden name, the other half in my married one.
She's got a point, but I'm still not motivated to do it.
Grumbles....
