Littlest spider

Not being afraid of spiders in the least (had a pet Tarantula named Harry as a kid), I've had a lovely afternoon with a small one. S/he's been hanging about exploring my monitor. Smooth black with several bands of white on the abdomen that look a bit like a smile when the spider is inverted. I have no idea what kind of spider this is, but I've been charmed by it for several hours now. Can't seem to find its distinctive markers on any site (yes, I know they aren't really identifiable in that manner), so I'm giving my little friend complete respect and distance.

I'm paying attention, little one.

I'm going to insert a note of technological caution -- computers and spiders are a bad combination. You don't want them building webs in the casing, it can really mess up the machine. Not usually a problem, of course, but if you're going to peacefully coexist with your arachnids, you might want to encourage them to be somewhere other than near the box.

Our little friend has returned to the living room. One of the reasons I was keeping an eye on it was to make sure it didn't get inside the monitor and computer.

Running another backup, then I'm going to pull the case apart and do a thorough dusting.
