So you've finally decided to come visit the Tryst Inn, most likely on your way to somewhere else. We're sitting around chatting in the living room or back porch, the time is perfect for a couple of drinks.

So what drink do I serve you?

Interesting...

Might have to give that one a try, eh?

Now where can I get snow this time of year?

An interesting local microbrew, dark is fine.
A good local wine, tour of winery optional.
Mike's hard cranberry lemonade.
... and if you're feeling wealthy, Hendrick's & Tonic w/ cucumber. But not if you want me to stay up and be conversational for any length of time ... ;)

Ah, you sound like a woman after my own heart. Microbrews, local wines, and Hendricks all make me very, very happy! I recently invented a basil-rose martini made with Hendricks. Not too sweet, but floral and herbal and delicious.

Rogers's Klikitat Special

Chill cocktail glass. Prepare as follows:

Muddle in cocktail shaker powdered sugar & vanilla extract with a dash of Curaçao.

In pre-chilled cocktail shaker combine

1½ oz pineapple flavored vodka
1 oz Noilly Prat
½ oz cranberry juice
1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. Unicum
1 dash 151 proof rum

Shake with small cubes of ice as if you were suffering a super-acute attack of ague and Saint Vitus dance combined.

Strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Float a scant spoonful of bianco vermouth on surface of drink. Add a crust of coconut snow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coconut snow appears to simply be shaved coconut used as garnish. I don't think I'd ask you to make this, for fear of whiplash occurring.
Bang Beggar Cocktail
Chill cocktail glass. Prepare as follows:
In pre-chilled cocktail shaker combine
2 oz Vouvray
1 oz brandy
1 tsp. Calisaya bitters
2 tsp orange bitters
Shake with shaved ice allegro.
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Float a scant spoonful of Cinzano vermouth on surface of drink.
That...actually sounds somewhat kinda drinkable, though I don't know that you need two kinds of bitters, and I'd leave out the vermouth, which I doubt would float on that.
Spencer's Tewa Special
Chill cocktail glass. Prepare as follows:
In pre-chilled cocktail shaker combine
* 1¾ oz Vat 69
* 1 oz Trinidad rum
* ½ oz lime juice
* 1 tsp. sugar
* 1 dash apricot syrup
Shake with arctic icicles to induce hypothermia in the drink and your hands.
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Wow. That sounds... awful. Whisky and rum is a combination that should only occur when you are documenting the cargo of trade ships. I'll take either a good scotch or a good rum neat, though.
Some of the combinants are a bit wince inducing, but overall I think the concept is hysterical.
A classic Sazerac:
1 1/2 oz good rye whisky (Sazerac Rye by preference, but Beam or Old Overholt will work too.)
1 sugar cube
1 tsp water
1/4 oz Herbsaint (a type of pastis still made in New Orleans)
Peychaud's Bitters
Twist of lemon peel
Ice
Chill an old fashioned glass by packing it with ice. While the glass is chilling, muddle sugar cube with water in a mixing glass. Add 1 ice cube, rye whisky, and 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters. Stir. Dump ice from old-fashioned glass and add Herbsaint. Swirl to coat interior of glass and discard excess Herbsaint. Strain whisky mixture into old fashioned glass, twist lemon rind so oils spray into the whisky, and then drop into cocktail as garnish.
Then serve it forth.
Twister Cocktail
2 oz brandy
1 oz Champagne
½ oz Byrrh
2 drops Bourbon liqueur
Stir all ingredients except the Champagne with lump ice and a minimum of body movement.
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Top with Champagne. Carefully deposit Hershey’s Kiss on drink surface.
Haha except, no. Just Jameson straight, please. I'm a simple kind of girl. My martinis only ever may have gin and vermouth, and I never, ever adulterate my Guiness with anything, unless it's Irish whiskey and I'm feeling froggy.
Flagstaff Blue Heavens Cocktail
3 oz Sauterne
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Really, I'd be fine with a beer (dark or red). The fanciest I've ever gotten is a homemade White Russian or a margarita (red).
Big O Hare Cocktail
Chill cocktail glass. Prepare as follows:
In pre-chilled cocktail shaker combine
2 oz Sauterne
1 oz Haitian rum
½ oz pear juice
3 drops root beer schnapps liqueur
Shake with alacrity and cubes of ice.
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Add a pinch of salt.
I used to have that poster in college, never ceased to amaze me how people viewed it. Most folks wanted to know who the "guy" was.
Became a very interesting personality test.
