My doctor is out on maternity leave and I'm incredibly happy for her, especially as an older mom (she's in her 40s). Unfortunately, that means I have to see someone else for my Diabetes and other medical issues. Now, one would think that Tricare would have sent us a letter letting us know we've been temporarily re-assigned to another doctor for 6 months or so but I only found out when I called for my 3 month Diabetic check up.

Worse yet, they've re-assigned all of us to the most misogynistic doctor on their staff, Dr. L. One they have consistently tried to assign me to over the years and I've always refused to see him. The man is a menace! He thinks women's reproductive problems are all "in our dear little heads" and that women have forced the AMA to recognize "non-existent feminine hysterical diseases like Fibromyalgia". My husband almost punched him after one of these insipid little speeches. That they even keep him on staff is ludicrous.

So Dr. L is NOT an option for me. Now Tricare has re-assigned me to a FNP whom I actually like but it's only a matter of time before they realize as a Diabetic their rules do not allow me to see a Nurse.

I really hate this crap.

Really? I saw a Nurse Practitioner who specialized in diabetes as often as I saw my doctor, back in MN. She changed my prescriptions when necessary and everything. (I assume the doc signed off on that, but she did all the work.)

Tricare doesn't seem to realize that FNPs and PAs can handle Diabetics well, especially one like myself that is not on insulin (Metformin, only). I had a gorgeous hunk of a Serbian P.A. who I ADORED (they assigned him to me, go figure) then they went ballistic when they realized it was breaking their rules and re-assigned me. To Dr. L. Who I had previously filed complaints with not only the Hospital, but Tricare and the state medical boards.
