Less than a week's worth of eggs, the dark brown is from our new chickens:

All together now:

In order, left to right, small egg (likely a Khaki Campbell), one of our home flock Swedes or Rouen egg, a truly large new Swedish egg and a chicken egg:

Same picture, but viewed from the bottom so you can see how truly large the eggs from the new Swedes are:

In other news, I finally have a dishwasher! It's still sitting in the foyer, but soon. :)

So, what do duck eggs taste like? I've never had one...

Very rich and very sweet (right now the ducks are eating a lot of blackberry bushes), the trick is figuring out how to cook with them properly as they are also denser. For quiche, for example, we cook them about 10 minutes less than we would with chicken eggs.

Bring up a little container on Wednesday, we'll set you up with some. :)

A great idea I saw in one of my cookbooks once was to mark the eggs in pencil with the date they were gathered.
