The Queen's Arrival...

My mother is coming for a visit, bringing Da, of course. We're still figuring out the exact date, as we need to schedule around the Navy.
Now, on any given day, I will with very little prompting explain the importance of order and harmony of the home to a magical practitioner. I believe that strongly in it. But Mumsie is coming, so organization and cleanliness are even more important. So I'm in the middle of a major house cleaning and re-organization. Last night I re-organized even MORE books into our combination Craft Room/Library, re-created the Hestia altar which was sadly neglected until now, though having it hidden away in the Craft room doesn't seem quite appropriate, so that needs to be re-considered.
Today I re-arranged my home office, making it easier to use all my computer equipment. The top-feeding scanner is actually on top of my desk where I can get to it easier and use it, instead of tucked away on a library shelf. There's a shorter, wider printer stand whose wheels actually WORK (shockers). So now both the Death star (laser) and color printer are side by side, with paper supplies arranged neatly underneath. I also moved another small table into my office for my calligraphy supplies - I own way too many glass caligraphy pens and inks, which I rarely get to use as its a major pain in the neck to get them all out. After I finish this post, I'm going to drag them out and arrange them beautifully on my calligraphy desk. This desk will also do-double duty as my copying center with my light box for BTW materials. Okay, make that triple duty, as I'll most likely to all my laminating there, too. Utilitarianism as applied to office resources!
I also moved quite a few things around in the living room and the foyer, even put a metal kitchen hutch out on the porch - which I don't think will stay there, given its lack of usefullness there. Once Spring arrives, it will make a great planting center - but for now its sort of hanging out there lonely and mostly empty. Perhaps we can decorate it for Halloween/Samhain, that's an idea.
I love re-inventing my world, even when its something as mundane as re-arranging furniture and books.
