Chicken Sales: Closing This Round

trystinnWe meet the nicest folks selling poultry, it's absolutely amazing. Iain and his daughter Mia came by today - a neighbor's GSD broke into their yard and killed all her chickens. :( She was heartbroken, so Iain went online desperately looking around for another flock. He's reinforced the fencing and the dog is now restrained in a chain link kennel. I made him a really great deal - 5 for $60 just so we could sell off the last of the sale chickens.
Once Mia saw the Polish, she had to have them. She took the 4 Ameraucanas, the Dorking and the White Polish, then after we showed her the chicks, ducklings and rabbits - she snuck a peak in the container and the Dorking got out. We chased it down the block but she rain into an overgrown briar patch. Hopefully, she'll return this evening but once we saw a snake in the bushes, I called off the search. Plus, Josh got into something that made him immediately hive up! Grr. I didn't want her worrying about having lost a chicken, so I threw in the Black Polish to cheer her up.
So out of 17 chickens, we have 3 left. The Ameraucana (Sergeant) Kevin wanted us to keep for him, the Silver Laced Polish (Pompom) that Josh loves and the beautiful Blue Andalusian (Smokey) I fell in love with.
All in all, I made $200 in less than a week, a $100 of which went to Tina for the consignment. Not a bad little side-business, really. Along the way, Jason has become a champion chicken catcher!
Update: Jason loves Cheddar & Bacon Quiche! Yay - I found something he really loves to eat.
