Very exciting morning here!
Rincewind, our lovely Silvery Blue Swede/Khaki Campbell mix, has hatched another little darling. Segunda likely hatched at night, she's already dry and waddling about. Segunda is an upright walker, like her mother, a soft gray with yellow underbelly. I've already had the opportunity to pick her up and welcome her to the farm. Prima is doing well (she has the cutest black webbed feet!), they are both absolutely darling. I will get pics this afternoon.
Babs, our crested Black Swede, has very recently hatched a black duckling. My policy is not to touch the ducklings until they are dry and upright, so we'll leave her alone for now. I saw a few more peeped eggs, so I expect more ducklings from her nest today. We'll likely go with a show tunes/Broadway naming theme for hers.
I'm thinking we likely have a week or two before we see anything from the Trio of Moms on the Khaki Campbell nest, or the KC in the thorns along the fence. Same story with Luca, our Runner's nest and certainly the same with Nera, our Rouen.
So far I have orders in for any Rouen ducklings from our friend Joe. He said he'd likely be interested in any larger breed (so the Swedish) ducklings, too.
