Our friend Austin recently eloped with a gal and is in the process of setting up a home before he is sent to Aghanistan. To help them do this, Josh and I wandered the house looking for things we could give the new couple to fill out their home. Seems their greatest need was a fouton sofa, which we have two of, both used for guest visits. One could go, so Tuesday Austin, his wife and a friend came by to help us re-orient the furniture and take the fouton to their new place. Good people, but so young! Both are twenty-one, and very young for that age, which is a bit alarming. The wife, of course, is interested in Witchcraft (a mixed blessing, sadly), though she was very polite and courteous in her questions. Given that we were seated in our ritual room, with a pentagram rug on the floor, floor to ceiling occult books, and five shrines/altars - she was surprisingly circumspect in mentioning her interest!

Austin is coming over again on Saturday, so we can give them our spare washer and dryer since they are without and attend the Freecycle free for all in Coupeville. Hopefully, there will be enough stuff to help them get a household running before he's deployed.

Last night was the Island county Democratic party meeting. Given that Island county is two islands, without any connection (ferry, road, bridge, etc.) in which traveling between the two is a two hour drive, Island county Democrats are surprisingly united in their goals. They are very excited to see a Navy couple doing this and the pressure to become a PCO is severe, but friendly. Tonight is another meeting, at a local restaurant, to help the Democratic candidate run for County Commissioner. He's a good man, firmly guided by community principles and I'm looking forward to hearing more from him. The Republican candidate is firmly owned by Walmart and other big land developers, so this has become a very important race to determine the future of Island county, especially our natural resources.

The folks in the local party are really quite wonderful. I had a great opportunity to sit down with Sue, a hypnotherapist with a doctorate, and listen to her feelings and thoughts on her industry. A very charming and lively woman, an amazingly wise Crone and hopefully, a new friend.

That said, I'm really looking forward to Friday, our first night this week that belongs to us!
