Project Week: Day One
Apr. 21st, 2009 08:44 pmWe are on schedule for our Project Week, which is a great start. Today, Josh transformed the old rabbit hutch into a secured Night Hutch for the ducks. The bottom stand has been fenced in, a duck door installed so I can open it to let them out in the mornings.
The ducklings, entering their 2nd week of life, are growing like crazy at almost an inch a day. The larger duck displays gender-based behavior and we have come to think of it as Bernard, our Drake. The rest of the ducklings follow Bernard around, ducking their heads as he raises his. They are all swimming and beginning to forage, carefully penned and supervised during the day. Gracie is taking her herding duties quite seriously, she's quite the Duck Nanny.

Tomorrow we break ground on the pond. :)
