My neighbor Patrick shouted over the fence to let me know that Mia, our KC/Runner mix (hatched last Fall) is brooding over in his yard. He's thrilled to have her there, so she's staying - for now. Once the ducklings arrive, we'll likely have to round them up. I went over there to check on her, she's a bit young but doing great. Even let me pick her up so Patrick could give her a thorough petting.
He also wanted to show me the KC duck who was brooding at the corner neighbor's home, who has been thrilled to keep tabs on her. I went over to check on things and found the duck dead - looks like a dog attack. I didn't want to disturb them during dinner, I'll go over in a bit and clean up. I couldn't find any eggs, likely they are gone, as well.
Meanwhile, Babs (crested black Swede) is still actively brooding and crankier than all Hell. This is the NOT fun stage of brooding.I'm going to move her and her nest into the northern most pen in the West Wing of Bunhalla in a few minutes, loads of fun that. *sigh* Actually, this went off without a hitch - Brittany stopped by and helped by catching Babs, while I transferred the eggs. Babs is now settled with her eggs, which hopefully she'll continue to brood. *cross fingers* Thistle, the Pirate Bunny, got nose pettins and belly rubbins. Lucky boy!
Fortunately, Mamma Nera and her 11 ducklings are doing just fine. I'm keeping tabs on them several times a day. Will get more pictures tomorrow.
And I will definitely need more waterers! *slump*
